The bi-annual Newstalk ZB sponsored supermarket food drive was held on Saturday 15 November. This is a twice a year event in which all the foodbanks within the Wellington region participate. Once again it was a big success for the Lower Hutt Community Foodbank as over 15 supermarket trolleys were filled to the brim with donated food items. The Foodbank shelves will be well stocked to meet the upswing in demand from our clients with Christmas approaching.
A very big thank-you to all the volunteers who helped us in running this event. It would not be possible without the generosity of your efforts and time.
A big thank-you also to the five supermarkets within the Hutt Valley who allow us to use your stores for this food drive appeal. Your support is vital in allowing the Lower Hutt Foodbank to be an effective service within the community.
And a hugh thank-you to all the members of the community who so generously placed one or more food items into our appeal trolleys. You willingness to give to help those in need is proof that the Christmas spirit of caring and giving is truly alive and triving within the Hutt community.
